Love

My first post for the 'Love' section of the blog. Only... I haven't quite figured out how to post to other pages. I am still that lame at blogging. sigh. Until then... I have dedicated my Monday's to posting things I've been browsing around during the week for inspiration and for my family. Here are a few things I'm loving this week!

Clothes
I'm loving that fall is right around the corner! I am starting to lose my pregnancy weight, but still not quite into my old clothes yet. I am dreaming of some new clothes regardless... And just in case I'm not down to my old size by fall. I love colored jeans... I don't know which color I love more, the aqua blue I have pictured or possibly a bright shade of poppy! Regardless, new over the knee boots from Steve Madden and a sweater from my new favorite online shop ModCloth are in order!

Office and Stationery
I am addicted to paper and office supplies... folders, paper clips, pens, inks, pencils and everything else that you can think of. I have drawers full of stuff! And always collecting more. I actually use it though. I love to write Thank you notes and other letters to my friends. There’s nothing quite like writing a note to a friend on a high quality note card, and then sealing it in a gorgeous envelope with fun lining. And it’s even better when you’re the friend on the receiving end! Writing letters and notes and sending them in the post is sadly a lost art form, but one that will always be appreciated by all people involved.

I love love love Kate Spade stationery. I consider it a treat because it is expensive... but it is colorful and simple. What's not to love??
Food for Thought
I think it is the cooler (80 degree) temps that has me craving fall/winter fare. Yesterday I picked up some pasta that is called Heartland Hidden Vegetables. Immediately I thought this could make a healthier version of macaroni and cheese! Which is one of my absolute favorite indulgences. It comes in at a good second to grilled cheese.

I set aside some time to look for a lower fat version of my classic treat. I absolutely love this recipe site called Yummly. You can change the serving sizes and it gives you nutritional information!

Here is the recipe I'm going to try: http://www.yummly.com/recipe/Healthy-Baked-Macaroni-_-Cheese-Recipezaar?servings=2

Oh, Baby Baby!
John and I wanted to try a natural diaper that might be a little better on the environment than Pampers... yet, we definitely weren't up for the cloth diaper laundry. We do not live in an area that has a service that will do the 'dirty' work for you! We are trying G diapers. They are a hybrid of a cloth outside diaper, lined with plastic and you use a disposable insert that is biodegradable. It can be flushed or composted as well! I have to say after using them for two weeks we are extremely happy!
They are also really cute as well... www.gdiapers.com

My mom bought us the newborn bundle and it comes with a lot of diaper covers to get you started and 80 inserts. I went through 60 in two weeks. So I am guessing that a case of 160 will make it through the month with a few to spare. I suppose it will depend on my little guy!! He's getting bigger so actually we don't have as many diapers as before. He wets a lot!! And these diapers hold up like champs. The poo is twice a day... and each time I have had to wash the diaper. They are okay until you open it up then the running of the poo starts... ya'll know what I mean!! And things get sloppy. But no blowouts... yet... so I can't tell ya what that is like so far.

I also worked the numbers out on these diapers and it turns out that 160 diaper inserts cost $56. A little under three dollars per insert. Of course I thought Pampers were are a bit cheaper... at $47 for 186. But when you do the math - 160/56 = 2.86 and 186/47 = 3.96! These prices are from Babies R Us where I order from. They are cheaper than WalMart. And happily my diaper pail was emptied once a week when we used the newborn Pampers. Since last week we haven't filled the diaper pail nearly as full. On week two we are just getting to the top. Much less waste. And if I had a compost pile, I wouldn't have a diaper pail at all... which will be soon!!

Interiors
Since we've inherited my grandparent's house, John, my brother, sister-in-law and I have been dreaming about some updates. Afterall, the exact same carpet can be seen in Christmas photos from 1977... I think it might be time!! Here are some dreamy ideas we've got brewing.
Love the chalkboard and the blue... also love the dark floors!

Two kitchen concepts to meld...

Mud Room
Shed update

must have for the backyard!
