A Week of Pinterest Recipes

If you’re not on board yet... (yes, that’s going to be a pun when you find out) Get ready, as Pinterest will now be part of the catch phrases that we utter almost daily.

Gone will be the days of - "Oh where did you get that recipe!"; “I Googled it.” Now, it will be, “I pinned it” or “On Pinterest...”. The instant gratification is overwhelming. You don’t even have to know what you’re looking for! You log in and start browsing through categories of things you like. Or everything at once if you're looking to be inspired. You are looking at ‘boards’ are specially designed for the visual. Sexy photos that are captioned with just enough information to make you click to find out more or want to see the image bigger. Then you can follow other peoples pins if  you like their style and have similar interests. Many blogs now have links... I have a link to my own Pinterest boards under the ‘Inspire’ tab on the blog. Click it and you can get a visual.

What I love, is that Pinterest organizes your finds. Gone now are the days that you had to bookmark every web page that you came across on the internet. Only to now and then think OH I haven't looked at this or that lately. Now you ‘pin’ the image, recipe, article, any web what-not onto a labeled board and there you will have it at your beckon call. And when you open your page you're reminded of how clever you are and what good taste you have in everything! HA HA you have to laugh! But, this was my draw. So many times I like one product on a website. A dress or a recipe. Pinterest allows me to have that one image. That one link! Oh, getting tempted now?? I have some useful boards that I think you'd enjoy... and some just for fun or to inspire me. Like my board filled with ballet dancers. Because it's beautiful and dreamy. People post all kinds of stuff. It is kind of my new drug... so I have now actually created limits for the time I spend on the website. Yeah, it’s that bad... Especially the recipes.

To boot, Pinterest is not only for the fashion conscious or artists. It is also quite the foodie hub. WOO HOO right? Don’t know what you’re hungry for? Go browse the Food & Drink category. You will have hundreds of ideas instantly. And it is visually SO yummy. In fact, it’s a food porn clearinghouse. An entire browsable section dedicated to recipes and the most gorgeous food porn you’ve ever laid eyes on. Many jokes emerge that Pinterest is all fantasy weddings, future babies, recipes and fitness tips that no one ever really uses. Well folks, I’ve had my wedding, baby is on the way and I’m cooking from these pins I’ve collected. In fact, today, every recipe I’ve planned is from Pinterest. Including the pancakes I made while typing this up! They kinda didn't work great... which is why I decided to create this post.

If your curious and want to poke around on my site, I have three categories for food boards... (it might grow to four soon). I have ‘drink me’, ‘baked love’ and ‘gifts & parties’. See... you also get to be clever with names and show everyone how witty and fun you are.

This week I will share with you recipes I’ve made from ‘baked love’ and ‘gifts & parties’. Now, for the disclaimer. I will tell you that some of these recipes have definitely been tweaked. I will share what I did. Their original recipe needed something... So, consider some food blogs - even mine - as test kitchens! We all have different ingredients, cookware and appliances. I will also tell you if a recipe I tried was a total fail.

I am also going to link all of these recipes back to their original sources so that way I've have cited everything! None of these are my original recipes. Everything comes from Pinterest... via these sources. - Of course you could start your own Pinterest account and repin from my site. :) I will rate each recipe with (*) 4 being Awesome!! Make it again and again... and (*) being I will continue to tweak or let me know what you did to make it Awesome!!

Southwest Egg Rolls ****
 - I omitted the spinach, chilies and green onion. Also, used half the cheese!
 - I added roasted red peppers instead of the green chilies.
 - I used one can of corn.
 - other flavor/ spice additions were fresh cilantro, chipotle tabasco, lime juice and chopped garlic.
Put the filling directly in the middle.

Roll the bottom to meet the top of the filling.

Use a little water on the left and right sides to seal them in.

Do the same at the top.

Roll the bottom to meet the top!

They aren't works of art yet... but they are my first!
ENJOY! These were so simple and fun to make!
Cowboy Caviar (Bean Salsa) ****
Grape Caterpillars **** (kiddos LOVED them!)
Apple Nachos **** (kids and adults LOVE them!)

*NB - The most frustrating thing that can happen on Pinterest is that you see something delicious, click on it and it only goes to an image... not a recipe. Be sure that if you want to really go back to something for the actual recipe, not make it up yourself, that you click on it and find the original link. I’ve found a lot of broken links. So I use Google to find the original post and repin the recipe myself. Easy enough.
